Aim of Unit 36 Human Resources − Value and Contribution to Organisational Success

Unit 36 Human Resources would enable students to connect the role as well as functions of HR with the emerging developments in HR. An awareness of HR as a prime contributor to the success of a company would be enabled for this unit. After the successful completion of the same, students would be able to understand the importance of an HR for the success of an organisation and the functions of the HR in a contemporary setting. The contribution of the HR department in improving the performance of an organisation would further be understood.

LO1 Evaluate the importance of organisational design to the delivery of sustainable performance

An extensive understanding of organisational design and its concepts along with sustainable performance would be discussed here. This would be followed by an explanation of the characteristics and of agile companies and organisational design theories. This would involve an explanation of change theory, typologies of change as well as McKinsey’s 7S model.

LO2 Analyse the requirement to develop motivated, knowledgeable and experienced individuals and teams

The concepts and characteristics of motivation and its theories would be discussed in this section. This would include gaining an understanding of the importance of motivation in support of competitive advantage. An extensive explanation of human capital theory as well as management of knowledge would further be provided here. The utilisation of job analysis for the identification of the requirements of human capital within a company would be explained here.

LO3 Apply contemporary knowledge and research to support emerging HR developments

Effective research is needed to explore contemporary research on HR developments. A country or region helps in understanding the global environment in which the organization is sustaining in. HR functions are necessary for maintaining the workforce culture and workforce culture. There is an increasing demand for maintaining work life balance. There are external and internal factors that create a challenge on the functions of the HR. An Hr is essential for effective management of all the employees including the non managers.

LO4 Evaluate the relationship between organisational design and change management

The changing environment has an impact on the organization to adjust to such changes. The decisions help in proper management of the organization. Changes in management can be dealt with application of Lewin, Kotter and a transformational change in management. There are certain barriers to change which include perception and beliefs of the individuals to resist changes. In order to remove the barriers to change communication and proper engagement of the employees is required in the organization. The people can be prepared for restricting the design of the organization in order to overcome the barriers to change.
