Aim of Unit 4 Research Project
Unit 4 Research Project has been developed in order to provide learners with different research techniques and methods involved in the hospitality industry. The research techniques, in the hospitality industry involve different methodologies and action planning methods to make up formal research. The outcomes of the research are presented and monitored henceforth to see if there are any findings required for the improvement of the industry. This unit further sheds light on understanding and formulating a research specification, implementation of research project and the evaluation of the research outcomes in the hospitality industry. Hence the learner must be aware about various techniques involved in the research project.

Learning outcomes
LO1 Understand how to formulate a research specification
Before carrying out the research it is extremely important to understand how to formulate a research specification. It is important to formulate the aims and objectives of the research, methodology involved in the data collection, reviews, and critiques and gather information from sources like books, interviews, journals and from the internet. Further a hypothesis is made from the information gathered from the sources. For the formulation of a research specification action plan plays an important role in monitoring and reviewing the whole process. Before carrying forward the research it is also necessary to design the type of research based on the data and information gathered.
LO2 Be able to implement the research project within agreed procedures and to specification
The research project is implemented on the basis of research design, hypothesis, validity and reliability. For the data collection it is important to gather appropriate information and data collection like quantitative and qualitative, methodologies and reliability. For the implementation of data analysis and interpretation, it requires the data analysis, proper coding techniques and statistics.
LO3 Be able to evaluate the research outcomes
In order to carry forward the research project, the hospitality industry must be able to evaluate the outcomes of the research. The success or failure of the research based on the aims, objectives, evidence and difficulties must be evaluated. After analyzing the significance of the research, the results of the research must be able to recommend any changes, improvements and implications for the future. Therefore, the outcome generated from the research that has been carried out determines any kind of improvements, strategic planning and innovations to be implemented in the future for the sustainability in the hospitality industry.
LO4 Be able to present the research outcomes
After the research project has been carried out and the outcome has been received, the result must be presented in a professional manner to the audience. The researchers must use the means of proper media like newspaper, social media or television.
